Dining and Beverages
AquaClass guests have their own restaurant serving healthier fare, as do suite guests in The Retreat, both of which are included in the rate for those passengers. It’s the buffet, but it has a back patio terrace that seems like you’re on a private yacht with only a few tables. AquaClass cabins are focused on a wellness routine with everything from pillow menus and Cashmere mattresses to healthy dining in a private restaurant and VIP access to the spa and thermal suite. A private lounge had snacks and drinks all day plus an outdoor terrace where I would routinely work from as we sailed away. Just like most other cruise lines, not everything is included in your cruise fare. You’ll find specialty restaurants and activities onboard that come with additional charges.
The Retreat Deck, Lounge and Suites
Guests are encouraged to instead get “glamorous, chic and sophisticated.” For men, blazers or sport coats are optional; most choose dress pants and dress shirt, button-down shirts or dress sweater. Women can opt for formal or cocktail dresses, but it is acceptable to wear skirt, pants, or designer jeans with an elegant top. There is one Evening Chic night for a cruise six-nights or shorter, two for any seven-nights or longer. As a newer ship, Celebrity Edge’s modern design and use of technology is conducive for minimizing crowding.

It depends how early of a morning most travelers have the next day (some ports have early tour departures). I loved spending time at the rooftop garden with a book, catching a movie on the large screen or having a bite to eat in the breeze on a sailing day. The pool deck buzzes with activity, and it is hardly as crowded as you might see on a much larger ship.

If you like to sit outside on your own deck for sun, you'll want to avoid these, as well as the rooms that sit underneath the Magic Carpet. AquaClass lovers also have a new choice in rooms, with Sky Suites that combine the spa amenities of the category with Retreat access and personal concierge service. Still, we were surprised that the AquaClass upgrade didn't come with any changes to Blu, the dedicated restaurant. It's still walled off, without windows and a lot of natural light. That said, be careful with where you book your suite, or room, particularly if you're a sun lover. Because the top deck on Celebrity Beyond stretches a bit over the ship itself, many of the rooms on the higher deck don't get any sun on their balconies (infinite or otherwise).

I've just returned from a second Caribbean cruise with Celebrity. Companies often ask how they could improve their customer service.Well, based on my experience, I really don't see how they could do any better. Embarkation at Fort Lauderdale after a pre cruise overnight in Miami, was speedy, organised, well staffed and welcoming. Verandah stateroom was perfect and kept spotlessly clean as was entire ship. Hate to include the cliché 'something for everyone' but there really was.
Located at the stern on the 14th floor, Oceanview Café’s dining room boasts the best view of all the outlets. Indoor and outdoor seating line the floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows for spectacular unobstructed vistas, balancing the buffet bustle with a light, airy seaside café feel. Most non-suite staterooms can accommodate three guests (the divan sofa being the third bed). However, fitting three or four would feel tight in rooms without verandas, which afford an extra feet of breathing space. All rooms have an oversized flatscreen TV, luxurious bedding, and Celebrity Edge-series’ signature Cashmere Mattress, which are a dream.
Overall, Celebrity Summit makes for a relaxing yet fun cruise experience, where food and cocktails take center stage, and Instagram-worthy moments abound. The crew, who are outgoing, engaging and committed, further elevate the experience, with plenty of senior staff engaging with passengers (photos with the captain, anyone?). For virtually any type of cruise you could be dreaming of, from a leisurely trip through the islands of the Caribbean to an exploration to the Galapagos Islands, Celebrity has something to offer. This award-winning cruise line earns high marks for variety, overall onboard experience, and commitment to safety. Celebrity should be near the top of your list when deciding which cruise line you should use for your next sailing.
